I was disappointed to discover five minutes into the show that this is in fact a remount of a show I’d seen four years ago. After the success of Musical the Musical, you’d think Urban Samurai would want to follow it up with something just as fresh. But no.
Putting that aside, Livelihood is a decent piece of entertainment about a job interview from hell. Matt Greseth is an eccentric hiring manager who puts his prospective employee through a behavioral and gauntlet.
I had difficulty toward the end when it seemed the script was trying to be more impactful than it was. There was some sort of message about greed and happiness that never landed because it was unsupported by the first 40 minutes.
