LIKE YOU MEAN IT

Like You Mean It is a dance piece with three female dancers and one DJ…and it’s completely improvised. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
How do you review a show that’s different at every performance? I guess I can only speak to the performance that I saw. I enjoyed it. It was really exciting to watch all three dancers collaborate with the DJ to improvise a cohesive piece. The crazy awesome lighting provided by the Southern Theater added amazing drama to the whole show. It was a perfect theater for a piece like this. Interestingly, half way through the show the audience was invited on stage to create a set, using random objects provided by the cast, and whatever they had on them. In theory this was a really great idea. I’m not sure the final product blew me away…but it was neat.
Overall, this show had all the elements that make for an exciting Fringe show: original piece, spoken word, cool music, a hot DJ, dance, audience participation, and talent. I believe this is the first time these out-of-towners have been in the MN Fringe Festival. I hope they return.
One and half legs in the air and four Gaye Golden Stars.
